Finding suppliers in China is easy. Finding the right one is the hard part. Each channel gives you a different mix of choice, speed and reliability. This article compares the main options from an operational point of view.
Online B2B marketplaces
Large online marketplaces list thousands of manufacturers and trading companies.
- Good for: a quick overview of products, price ranges and suppliers.
- Limits: listings are marketing. Badges and verified labels have different meanings on each platform and do not replace your own checks. Many listings come from trading companies, not factories.
- Tip: use marketplaces to build a long list, then verify.
Trade fairs
Large fairs, such as the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, and specialized industry fairs bring many suppliers together in one place.
- Good for: seeing products, meeting people and comparing many suppliers in a few days.
- Limits: travel costs, and a good impression at a booth is not a verification. Many exhibitors are trading companies.
- Tip: prepare your specification in advance and collect business cards for the follow-up.
Industrial clusters
Many product categories are concentrated in specific cities or regions, where hundreds of factories make similar products.
- Good for: finding specialized factories and comparing several in a short trip.
- Limits: you need to know which cluster fits your product, and it helps to speak the language.
Sourcing agents and import services
An agent or service searches, verifies and negotiates for you.
- Good for: access to suppliers that are not online, verification on the ground and saving time.

Referrals

- Good for: a supplier who has already worked with someone you trust.
- Limits: what suited another business may not suit your product or volume.
Search by image
